ode to liz stanley

liz was my goto friend these last 6 months. out of jam? call liz. she has 10 jars of homemade jam in her freezer. feeling blue, text liz. going to the academy of science? email liz.  She taught me how to shop at thrift stores again. Like in the rare case when you find shoes in your size at a thrift store and you like them, buy them. She taught me that the name of the furniture i like is called mid century. And that sewing isn't scary. Either is making homemade pizza. Homemade chocolate cake is still scary no matter what she said. In addition, her husband taught me that adding, "just sayin" at the end of a sentence is too cutesy and I should avoid doing that. Also he taught me that swearing is ok in NYC. I need to be told stuff like that.

Besides all the learning nonsense, I had fun with her. She has a boy the same age as mine. Which always helps friendships. My favorite times was when we carpooled. I think we did that twice. We finally got to talk without chasing after one of the crazy boys. Mostly I like that we got to be friends in such a short amount of time. it is such an easy friendship.

She threw me an amazing farewell party last night. It was for rob too. but after you look at the pics, you will see it was clearly for me. This morning when I saw the pictures, I called my sister today sobbing that i was going to miss her.

For more about the party, go to Liz's blog to read about the details. Focus on the stuff she says about me.  And my amazing profile.

She wrote up everyone who was at the party favorite things to do in New York City. i will cherish it. perhaps frame it.  It was a much needed night to say goodbye to some of my favorite people I've met in the last five years. We met most of them before Dot could even walk. And even though 2.5 of those years were spent out of SF, we were all able to keep in touch. I'm hoping all us girls from the party will meet up at Fenton's next week. I don't want it to be over yet.

  3. What? It's not too cutesy to say "just sayin" -- please see item #9 in this post (http://thingsifoundatthethriftstore.wordpress.com/2010/02/22/top-10-things-i-hate-about-thrift-stores/) for evidence.

I'm guessing that you are moving to NYC. Hope you love it! Now I'm going to go check out the gory details and your hot profile.
